You are entusiasticly invited

Subscriber,

The Tulsa Urban Wilderness Coalition, in collaboration with The Nature Conservancy, is hosting a specialized Sustainable Trail Design and Building Workshop on Saturday, April 4, 2026 at the Pearl Jackson Crosstimbers Preserve, located near Sapulpa.

This small, invitation-only workshop will be led by Mike Crockett of Anthrocene Contracting, a professional trail builder with more than 14 years of experience and extensive work training crews for projects in Northern New Mexico and the Colorado high country. Mike has worked with Philmont Scout Ranch, the Colorado Fourteeners Initiative, and the US Forest Service to fully and independently design and construct backcountry trails by hand.

You can find more information about Anthrocene Contracting’s work here:

During the workshop, Mike will guide participants through the process of designing and building a trail by actually designing a new trail to be used by visitors to the Pearl Jackson Preserve and beginning the trail’s construction.

Because this will be a hands-on field training, seats will be limited to keep the instruction practical and effective. We are hoping to have sustainable trail design training in the morning and trail building training in the afternoon.

This will be a full day workshop.
We will provide boxed lunch to all participants.
