The coalition’s mission is to preserve, protect and promote the responsible use and enjoyment of Green Country’s urban wilderness areas for current and future generations.
The coalition aims to promote its goals through teams focused on preservation, education and conservation of local wilderness areas; working and communicating with stakeholders such as landowners, private organizations and government entities; coordinating volunteer efforts in terms of growing and maintaining local wild spaces; and seeking like-minded partners who would like to assist in these goals by donating their time or contributing financially.

Over a decade of advocacy and trail work has taught us both how to communicate with the people who make decisions and how to sustainably build trails.
Education & Advocacy
The TUWC not only maintains trails and protects land we also invest in education and advocacy. We worked hard to bring the Leave No Trace Traveling trainers to Tulsa. Leave No Trace is a nationally recognized program that promotes sustainable outdoor ethics. Their teaching is now incorporated into every TUWC work day ensuring that our volunteers are well versed in these practices to minimize the impact on the land.
By combining hands-on trail work with Leave No Trace principles we are building a culture of stewardship that keeps Tulsa’s wild spaces healthy for generations.
Changing the Culture of Tulsa’s Trail Users one Volunteer at a Time
We believe every small action adds up. By teaching responsible trail use, repairing trail erosion, planting for pollinators and protecting Tulsa’s Wild spaces we are not just improving Tulsa’s Trails we are changing the Culture.
Through partnerships like Leave No Trace every TUWC work day is an opportunity to pass on outdoor ethics. They in turn carry this back to pass on the message and multiply the effect.
