As peaceful as the surroundings of Turkey Mountain can make you feel, mention the idea of plans for a nearby mall, and for many, that tranquility goes out the window.

“I would rather not, just to keep it like, the way it is,” said one woman.

“I think its a good idea, I just don’t think here,” said another.

Several people in the audience, including Kaye Price, challenged Reynolds’ assertion. Price said she has seen renderings that show that the retaining wall on the east side of the mall would be visible from a ledge on Turkey Mountain.
“What you see now (in Reynolds’ rendering) is a little bit of trees,” Price said. “But from the top of the ridge your view is a 50-foot retaining wall. That is also what the children” at a YMCA camp would see.
