Planting Events

Sept 9th

🌼 Join us for the Monarchs on the Mountain Planting Event on Saturday, September 9th at Creek Stickball Park (1800 S. Cheyenne Ave)! 🌱

Despite the challenges brought on by recent storms and a tumultuous summer, the Tulsa Parks team remains dedicated to nurturing our green spaces. We’re excited to announce that we’ll be hosting a special planting event to rejuvenate the park with beautiful perennials and native plants.

🌿 Event Details:

  • Date: Saturday, September 9th
  • Time: 9AM -11AM
  • Location: Creek Stickball Park, 1800 S. Cheyenne Ave

πŸš— Parking:

It’s recommended to park along Cheyenne or 18th streets, avoiding the No Parking zone in front of Council Oak or Stickball Park. The hotel parking lot nearby is only for guests. Another option is the parking lot at Dream Keepers Park, although it’s a short walk. Remember that volunteers might need to walk to the Park regardless.

πŸŽ’What to Bring:

Don’t forget to bring garden gloves and a trowel, but extras will be available. Also, sunscreen and insect repellent are recommended for volunteers.

🌺 Planting the Future:

We’re thrilled to provide a variety of perennials and native plants, including swamp milkweed and common milkweed, elderberry, solidago, and many more. These plants have been carefully cultivated and are ready to find their new home in the park.

🌞 Beat the Heat:
Considering the heat of the summer, we’ve chosen September 9th for our planting event. This decision ensures optimal conditions for the plants and volunteers alike, making the experience more enjoyable for everyone involved.

🌳 Reviving Our Parks:
Due to recent storms and park closures, our gardeners have been diligently working to clear debris and prep the grounds at various locations, including Stickball Park. Our efforts are driven by the desire to refresh the parks and bring new life to these spaces that have been patiently awaiting a makeover.

🌱 A Helping Hand:
We need your support! Friends and nature enthusiasts are invited to join us on September 9th to plant these wonderful additions to our park. Your participation will play a significant role in fostering a healthier environment for both our local flora and the monarch butterflies that rely on these plants.

🏑 Plants in Safekeeping:
Until the event day arrives, our plants will be securely housed in our facility’s hoophouse. We’re taking every measure to ensure their safety and readiness for their new home in Creek Stickball Park.

Let’s come together as a community to make a positive impact on our parks and local ecosystem. Mark your calendars for September 9th, and let’s create a brighter future for Tulsa Parks! πŸŒΌπŸ¦‹

Thank you, volunteers! We hope you will join us again on the 16th!
